Valentine’s Day is approaching fast, so there is no better time to find a gift for that special someone in your life. Most men opt for the traditional chocolates, flowers, and lingerie. If you are interested in buying sexy underwear, there can be a bewildering range to choose from. And, besides, how do you know what will really turn her on? Here, we will look at the underwear that women want to receive.

Before you begin, however, it is extremely important to know her size. Do not be tempted to rush in a store and pick out the first frilliest bra and panties you see. You will be embarrassed if she tries it on and it’s too small. Have a look in her underwear drawer and find out her bra and panty sizes.

Look around the room, too, for a feel of the style of underwear she might be interested in. Does she like vintage? Are there bright colors? Is she more interested in comfort?

Choice

There is a lot of choice available when it comes to underwear. Do you want thongs, g-strings, basques, corsets or pushup bras? Always remember who you are buying it for and how sexy she will feel wearing it. There is no point, for instance, buying a garter and corset set for someone who will not feel attractive in them.

What Underwear?

Let’s now look at the different types of underwear and how they might make women feel:

    * Pushup Bra

Every man should know a pushup bra when he sees one, or at least recognize when a woman is wearing one. A great cleavage enhancer, pushup bras make women feel incredibly sexy, and will make a Valentine’s date one she won’t forget.

    * Bustier

A sexy strapless bra that goes down to the waist, the bustier can boost the bust and make women feel sexy, particularly when layered with other garments such as garter belts and stockings. Slowly revealing what’s hidden underneath is a great turn on and will make her feel seductive.

    * Corset

A corset can make any women look feminine and curvy by tightening the waist and pushing up the bust. A throwback to the pinups of the 40s and 50s, they look incredible, and are perfect for women who are into vintage or retro clothing.

    * Thongs and G-String Panties

Thongs and g-strings show off the backside, which some men go wild over. The g-string takes things further, with just a thin stretchable string covering the backside. They can make women feel incredibly sexy.

    * Low-rise Panty

While it’s not the thong a lot of men like, the low-rise panty will make women feel like a model. Low-rise panties hangs low off the hips and has a lace-up backside. If there is one thing guaranteed to make any occassion sexy, it’s lace-up underwear.

    * Panties

The ordinary panty can still be pretty sexy. A lacy pair, for instance, can make her feel special, especially on Valentine’s Day, when romance is in the air. You don’t necessarily need to pick out something expensive for seduction.

Colors

Let’s not forget colors, either. It’s not just the type of underwear that can make a woman feel sexy but its color, too.

    * Red

Fiery and seductive, red is the color of attraction. Red panties will get anyone in the mood.

    * Purple

Exotic and inviting, purple underwear is perfect for bringing some excitement into the bedroom.

    * White

White is often seen as pure and virginal. A white corset, garter belt and stockings can drive men wild.

    * Black

Dangerous and wild, there is something glamorous about women who wear black underwear.

Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us and with the way the economy is we don’t want to let that stop us indulging ourselves and celebrating Valentine’s Day. We’ve had lots of interest on how to spoil your Valentine in previous posts, and here’s another few great ideas on just how to WOW your Valeintine on a budget. What are you waiting for…

Let’s be real: budgets matter for some folks. Although home repairs, fast food and movies on the couch don’t sound like a way to celebrate with your sweetheart, they can actually provide a sweet and inexpensive experience. As this DatingSymbol.com post notes, “Valentines Day is a great way to let loose and share something special with that certain someone.” Make it the most special by tailoring the activity to match your budget and wow your valentine.

For the Nesters:

Simple repairs make life easier and sometimes romance can be found in the little things. Use that notion to treat your sweetie by fixing or upgrading a few items around the home. DIY repair may seem mundane, but the effort expressed is surprisingly sweet and turns a mildly physical endeavor into a romantic investment in the home now shared as a couple. Replacing parts, cleaning vents, and other simple repair and maintenance extend the life of home items and increase their productivity.

Especially attractive for newlyweds or cash-strapped couples, home maintenance can also be a Valentine treat for those with frugal sweeties or who are saving up for a vacation or big purchase item. Who wouldn’t love their own “Mr. or Mrs. Fix-It”? A dedicated afternoon, tool belt, and dishwasher parts could lead to a happier chef (and cleaner dishes) come Valentine’s Day. Although it’s hard to unwrap repaired home items, there are ways to tangibly celebrate the holiday.

Rose petals and candles can illuminate a bathroom in which your love no longer has to “jiggle the handle;” add to the romance by creating a petal-trail which leads to a steamy bubble-bath filled with water heated more efficiently through recently insulated pipes (or from a recently serviced water heater.) A new piece of cookware and ribbon can be used to present a dishwasher which uses a new pump to run more smoothly; while a Valentine’s photo-shoot could showcase energy-efficient lighting installed in the bedroom.

Fast Food Fun:

Some sweethearts simply hate leaving the house. Papa John’s brings a cheesy Valentine treat right to your door: a hot, made-to-order heart-shaped pizza. Delivery is an option for those who hate crowded restaurants (or don’t plan ahead,) as reservations will be required—even at some fast food establishments. White Castle and Chick-Fil-A celebrate Valentine’s dining with reservations and private tables which offer candlelight meals for two, complete with flowers, candy, and balloons.

Sweetness abounds on Valentine’s Day, especially at shops which serve treats daily. Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts both offer specialty heart-shaped donuts with unqiue flavors and fillings. Krispy Kreme has traditional glazed hearts as well as chocolate iced heart donuts with red drizzle, cake donuts with white icing and sprinkles, and the triple chocolate: a chocolate iced donut filled chocolate Kreme and topped with brownie crumbles. Krispy Kreme valentine cards (which double as free donut coupons) come with each dozen.

At Dunkin’ Donuts, the new Cupid’s Choice lineup features heart-shaped, yeast-shell donuts filled with Bavarian Kreme, topped with strawberry icing and a festive mix of pink, white and red heart-shaped sprinkles. Chocoholics can try the Cupid’s Cocoa Donut, a heart-shaped chocolate yeast-shell donut filled with jelly, topped with chocolate icing and decorated with pink, white and red sprinkles.”

Frugal Home Evening :

At first thought, staying at home and watching a movie is a comfy occurrence common for most couples. But a bit of planning and film selection can turn a night-in into an evening to remember.

Dinner and a movie can be fun when paired with favorite films and the foods featured therein (or vice versa.) Pick a film featuring food that suits the pallet of your valentine. Base the evening around drinks, viewing, and dining around the “world” of the film. This can be as simple as outfit selection, a fresh table cloth, cheap decorations, or other clever ways to transform the viewing experience. Have the soundtrack playing during dinner; or choose films with sequels or spin-off for a longer evening.

Use product placement as a dining guide for those not so handy in the kitchen. Comedy lovers could enjoy a night in “Wayne’s World” complete with a store-bought full service meal of: Doritos, Pepsi, and Pizza Hut, with red rope licorice and brown M&Ms for dessert. Racing fans could turn Valentine’s day into Talledega Nights gulping Mountain Dew with Wonderbread appetizers followed by a spread of Domino’s, KFC, and “the always delicious Taco Bell.”

Although Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate your special someone, it’s also a time to think about the best ways to celebrate the couple (which rarely means busting the bank.) A bit of thought and energy can turn mundane activities or chores into some of the most memorable and heartfelt of holidays.

Katei Cranford doesn’t let a writer’s salary impede her celebration; she uses creativity (and hard work) to support her lavish lifestyle on meager earnings, and loves to help others learn to do the same.

ARIES [March 21-April 20]

Financial and business matters are favored this week – but make sure you keep a practical head on your sturdy Aries shoulders. Creativity is also high, as you initiate and pursue personal projects. On Thursday, a romantic relationship becomes feisty. Aim to be less selfish and more sympathetic to the needs of your partner. Singles – look for a lover who is also a friend.

TAURUS [April 21-May 21]

Consider adding your Taurean talents to a local group, club or organization. Your contribution will be appreciated [and may help others in unexpected ways]. Thursday will be an intense day, when you get passionate with your partner – or look for online love in far-flung places. A friendship may also be fractious, as the two of you agree to disagree on an important issue.

GEMINI [May 22-June 21]

Are you feeling restless? Is the green grass of home looking pretty predictable and boring? Blame it on the Sun and Mercury stirring up your adventure zone, which activates your travel gene and leaves you dreaming of tropical trips, heavenly holidays and exotic escapades. So you’d better start planning [and saving] ASAP! Saturday is super for socializing.

CANCER [June 22-July 23]

With three planets stimulating your sensuality zone, you’re in the mood for love and lust. If you are attached, it’s time to spice up the relationship with a sexy SMS or an erotic email. Single Crabs – Cupid has his arrows pointed in your direction and love is likely with a charming Capricorn or a passionate Piscean. Friday’s positive aspects promise a fabulous day.

LEO [July 24-Aug 23]

Money matters are on your mind but don’t make rash moves – and avoid lending cash to unreliable relatives. When it comes to close relationships, stop talking long enough to let others have their say. Joint ventures are favored on Friday, as you spark ideas off each other and pool your talents to create something really special. The power of the group is on your side!

VIRGO [Aug 24-Sep 23]

The Sun is having its yearly visit to your wellbeing zone so make sure you organize annual medical and dental check-ups, plus maintain a healthy lifestyle. No excuses! It’s also the ideal time to revive rickety relationships, freshen up friendships and reboot beliefs. Neptune moves into your love zone so [over the next few years] you’ll be more romantic than usual.

LIBRA [Sep 24-Oct 23]

Venus and Mars are at odds on Thursday, which will fire up a romantic relationship – or cause conflict and stress. Saturn’s still moving slowly through your sign [until October] which increases your perfectionist streak, and your aversion to making mistakes. Heed the wise words of birthday great James Joyce [born on February 2] “Mistakes are the portals of discovery.”

SCORPIO [Oct 24-Nov 22]

If you are attached, you’re overdue to do something romantic with your spouse. Sick of being single? Make a wish list of all the attributes you prefer in a partner, burn the list, and send your wishes out into the universe. Then – sit back and wait for your soul mate to come calling! The more proactive you are about your dreams for the future, the more likely they are to manifest.

SAGITTARIUS [Nov 23-Dec 21]

With three planets in your communication zone you’ll feel like reading, studying or travelling. If you’ve been waiting to get something off your chest – now’s the time to spill the beans and express yourself. When it comes to your job you may feel as if you’re going backwards but putting in longer hours won’t fix the problem. Aim to work smarter rather than harder.

Your Capricorn creativity is running on high this week, as you look for practical solutions to everyday problems. Goats – you’ll need to handle others with kid gloves on Thursday, when irritation is high and patience is low. It’s the perfect time to build bridges with a neighbor or patch up problems with a rambunctious relative. Friday is the day to follow your dreams.

AQUARIUS [Jan 21-Feb 19]

The Sun and Mercury are in your sign so you’re feeling super curious, and are eager to explore new territory. You’re also keen to show the world how innovative and interesting you can be, as you shake loved ones out of their cozy comfort zones. Be inspired by birthday great Vanessa Redgrave “Ask the right questions if you’re to find the right answers.”

With plenty of planets in your ‘helping others’ zone, concentrate on the needs of those around you. You’ll also gain good fortune if you’re involved with projects from behind-the-scenes. The energy shifts on Saturday, as Neptune moves into your sign. Prepare to become more creative, compassionate and/or spiritual – but watch you don’t retreat into a fantasy world.

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and that means there is a scramble to find the perfect destination to escape to with your loved one. A Valentine’s Day Break requires romance, a city to explore, a love nest and some fine dining; but with so much choice it can be a hard decision. Below you will find five destinations that could be perfect for you this Valentines.

New York

New York, New York the big city of dreams. The world’s most famous city is certainly a lively destination for a Valentine’s Day break and is the complete opposite to the chic atmosphere of Paris. However there is still plenty of romance to be had in the Big Apple, and with cold weather guaranteed in February there is the chance for couples to keep each other warm. The unique atmosphere of New York will keep couples entertained and help you to fall in love all over again. Taking part in some ice skating in Central Park will no doubt fulfil the romance.

Las Vegas

Vegas will certainly provide a lively Valentine’s Day Break, and with the Sin city renowned for short marriages you may think that visiting Las Vegas for a romantic break is the wrong idea. However there is still some romance left in the bright lights of Vegas. Visit mini Italy in the Venetian hotel and enjoy a gondola ride for two through the canals, shops and cafes of this built up town. A perfect way to escape the bright lights and share some quiet romance with your loved one. A trip to Vegas wouldn’t be complete without a show and the capital of entertainment has some great shows to see over Valentines Day. The Love show by Cirque Du Soleil combines the magic of the Beatles with their traditional circus acts to create a memorable show perfect for couples.

Marrakech

If you want a Valentine’s Day Break that is a world away from the doom and gloom of January then Marrakech is for you. Marrakech is a city that delivers romance, mystique and magic and does so on a budget. Marrakech Holidays in February offer warm temperatures of 20 degrees and a comfortable climate to explore, wander and consume. The culinary delights of Marrakech will mean that couples will have plenty of time to spend together, the aromas of African spices and herbs fill the night air and immediately send the taste buds tingling. The Jemma El Fna market becomes an open air restaurant as dark falls, alternatively there are a number of roof terrace restaurants to eat at.

Brighton

Brighton is the original beach side getaway in the UK, with this diverse city welcoming visitors for more than 80 years. With a grand pier and great fish and chips tradition there is a vintage romanticism about this town. For many couples taking a trip to Brighton, enjoying the pier and sharing fish and chips is a perfect picture of romance. Modern Brighton is a mix of old and new, and what visitors get is a diverse town filled with culture and buzz as a result. The shopping lanes of Brighton mix cobbled streets and unique one off shops to explore, as well as traditional British pubs to visit!

Palma Majorca

Majorca is one of Europe’s most popular summer break destinations, but holidays to Majorca are also great in the Winter and offer plenty of romance for Valentine’s Day. Cosmopolitan capital Palma is great for couples looking to explore and experience authentic Spanish culture. The city is also fairly cheap, a tapas meal can be purchased for around $8 per person and will keep you well fed throughout the day. The centre of Palma is now an ensemble of unique cafes, boutique shops, distinct architecture and mazy lanes that are perfect for exploring and sharing precious time together.

Superbowl 2012 is about to hit us and what better way to celebrate and get in on the act than a trip to Indianapolis. And certainly if you’re Single, Happy and Interested in meeting your match, you’d better find out about the nightlife in Indianapolis before you go – right here.

Whether you are coming to Indianapolis for Superbowl 2012 or just a vacation, the city has a lot to offer in terms of nightlife. There are two main “hot spots” for nightlife in Indianapolis; downtown and Broad Ripple Avenue. There are a handful of bars and clubs throughout downtown, with several being along Maryland Street. Downtown has a bar or club that will accommodate any group size and scene you are looking for. Here are three bars downtown that my team highly recommends you check out:

Nicky Blaines- If you are looking for a quieter, classy scene where you can

sip on a martini while puffing on a cigar, this is the bar to go to! It’s really nice inside and is a great place to converse over drinks and a cigar.

Kilroy’s Bar and Grill- If you want to reminisce about the good old college times, Kilroys is the bar to go to. It’s also the alumni bar for Indiana University; Go Hoosiers! There are plenty of tables and booths to accommodate any party size.

Taps and Dolls- The awesome part about Taps and Dolls is that they have several different levels with a different atmosphere at each level. With different choices of scene and music, you’re sure to find a floor that has everything you’re looking for.

If you want a change from the downtown scene, Broad Ripple Avenue is also a hot spot for nightlife! It’s also great for those that want to bar hop and visit multiple venues since everything is within 3-4 blocks. Broad Ripple also has a younger crowd, with many college students and recent graduates living in the area. If you decide to go out one night on Broad Ripple (which you should), my team recommends checking out these 3 bars:

Rock Lobster- You are sure to have a great time when you make a stop at Rock Lobster. They have a really big dance floor and great DJ. If you don’t want to dance, they have tables along the dance floor and multiple bars in the back to talk with friends over drinks. Their drinks are really reasonably priced and the atmosphere is lively and energetic. For those wanting to relive their college days, or maybe meet a guy or girl, Rock Lobster is where you need to go!

Casba- Casba is located right next to Brother’s bar and grill and is also a great place for dancing. It’s not that large, and when a lot of people are dancing, those wishing to just stand might get dragged onto the dance floor. Casba is usually popping any night, although Saturday nights tend to be more popular because of drink specials.

929- This is a smaller bar, tucked away from the madness, above the Broad Ripple Inn. They are known for their music, club feel, and the owner who dresses up in a Panda suit on special occasions.

We hope these suggestions ensure you have a great time in Indianapolis. No matter what type of scene you are looking for, Indianapolis has a bar or club that has what you’re looking for! For more nightlife suggestions, check out the Travel Products Blog.

Dating Symbol’s guest contributor today is Adam who’s been busy this Superbowl 2012 ensuring football fans have all the travel products they’ll need for their trip to Indianapolis. He’s looking forward to visiting the Superbowl 2012 village and going to a few of the concerts around town.

Not sure what to travel with? This posts for you with handy tips on what clothing to bring on a trip away. Travel need not be traumatic if you're organised.

Winter traveling can be tough on suitcases. Not just because of the thankless dragging through snow and slush, but because of the excessive poundage of winter apparel stuffed inside them. With a little consciousness and some hardworking items, you can avoid the dreaded overweight airline fees for your checked baggage.

As the coveted “curated wardrobe” gains popularity yet remains debatable, one simply cannot dispute the necessity of a curated suitcase. The suitcase becomes the closet while traveling, forcing essential meticulous packing, a skill that eludes most in our culture of over-preparation and excess.

Because calm preparation and packing with a clear head is not a common situation, compiled are fifteen items that work overtime for use in multiple outfits to make traveling during the colder months a little easier.

Some prefer to pack the winter jacket in their suitcase to use as padding for non-clothing items, but if space is limited and disposable poundage is at a premium, wearing your jacket in the airport and storing it in the overhead bins on the airplane is the way to go. The same applies to any big boots you might be bringing. Easy-wearing items like riding boots, jackets, and other outer layers are best suited for travel wear when fussier pieces–pumps, pocketless/unlayerable sweaters, uncomfortable denim–require the cushy ride in the suitcase.

Throw on a tee and slouchy cardigan, a maxi skirt around your neck to function as an oversized circle scarf (you’ll be thankful for so much fabric when you’re freezing on the airplane), tuck some leggings into those boots, and your airport attire is comfortable, cute, and suitcase-friendly.

In the suitcase, you’ll want skinny jeans to tuck into flat boots, longer, trouser-like bootcut/flare jeans, heeled booties, dressy heels, patterned tights, chambray button-down, pumps, versatile, simple LBD to dress up or down, loose crewneck sweater, and a fun belt sized to work at your hips or waist.

The leggings and crewneck can be worn to bed for utter comfort. The LBD over tights and heels is a chic party look, and you can switch out the pumps for riding boots and add the unbuttoned chambray or belted cardigan (or both!) for a cute hangout outfit.

The chambray also looks perfect loosely-buttoned over skinnies tucked into riding boots, with that maxi-skirt-turned-scarf to top it off, or throw the crewneck over the chambray, paired with the trouser jeans over the heeled booties for a preppy brunch look.

For running errands, keep the booties and trouser jeans, and top them with a tee and belted cardigan. Look chic and cool for coffee meet-ups with the maxi skirt over your booties for impossibly long legs, topped with your casual tee and cool jacket.

Ease in travel starts with your suitcase, the contents of which are best suited for anyone’s destination when prepared thoughtfully. Utilize some multi-function pieces to jumpstart your outfit creativity and take the load out of your suitcase a little. Happy light travels!

If I weren’t such a tight-fisted, controlling, un-decisive and lazy bint, I would be going travelling.

In my head, I dream of single holidays, in which I would enjoy some amazing exploits with interesting people and then write about them in a best-selling book. The reality is somewhat more inglorious and I regularly achieve holiday mediocrity. Here’s are a few suggestions on what NOT to do, so you can avoid some of my recurring pitfalls.

The classic horror story of holidaying starts with someone saying to their travelling partner: “Darling, it doesn’t really matter where we go. As long as I’m with you!” Off trots Darling, plotting a dirt cheap getaway so they can have more booze and more money to spend on booze back home.

Mistake.

The loved-up couple arrive in Ayia Napa. Fellow packagers are of the ‘retro’ (read: racist) variety and dismiss the bus driver as a ‘Manuel.’ As they arrive at the hotel, another packager is complimenting a large lady at the bar: “Ya know who ya look like? That bird from Misery, you know the one. Aw yeah, Kathy Bates, that’s the one!” The holiday is pretty much unsalvageable from there: everyone else is more tanned, enthusiastically enjoying the in-house bingo and confidently flaunting the creeping flesh.

The couple return to their grey, rainy homeland, and swear that they will never do it again: from now on they will go with something exciting like activity holidays in South East Asia. Until The Sun offers £10 holidays the year after.

Let your boyfriend book the tickets

Carol books an amazing hotel in Barcelona for a weekend. What’s more is that she gets it for a song thanks to some nifty internet trawling and well-applied vouchers. She buys the guide book and puts cute stars and hearts next to the places she wants to go with her lover boy: Parc Güell for mosaics and vistas, Las Ramblas for some tacky tourist nicknacks, 4Gats for some classy Spanish nosh and Moog for a bit of tail shaking. In one word: amazing.

Her boyfriend Rob has one job: book the tickets. She nags and nags until he gets them, and now she can breathe. Except that they arrive at Bologna. And the only flights they can get to BCN are going to cost £400 each and leave the next afternoon. That’s a lot of good work wasted, a lot of time and effort added to what’s meant to be a nice, relaxing holiday, and a whole lot of resentment bubbling under the surface.

Pack 14 pairs of socks and only one pair of undies

Some people just don’t have basic life skills when it comes to travelling. Take the example of this man when his wife left him to his own devices when packing his suitcase… Well, you read the subtitle, so you know what he did: just don’t do it yourselves.

Interestingly, this happened when he was aged 45 and ran a successful zip manufacturing business. However, you should know that this is also the man who went travelling in his early twenties and forgot to brush his teeth for six months (another hot tip: don’t do this either).

Packing should be pretty simple really. All you need is a passport, some money, the clothes you are wearing and enough underwear (socks and boxers) to see you through the trip. Everything else can be bought out there (usually for cheaper than the UK), and besides, you’ll want to leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs.

Go on a family reunion holiday

Just drink heavily through the colour coded activity plan, as created by your ‘fun’ father-in-law: lilac for new experiences, yellow for meals and snacks, blue for family relaxation time and black for your mood after 2 weeks of intensive, well-co-ordinated, organised fun.

ARIES [March 21-April 20]

Monday’s New Moon highlights group activities, but can you put your own needs aside and contribute as a valued member of the team? Your ruling planet Mars goes retrograde [from January 25-April 14] so you need to conserve energy, and focus on completing unfinished tasks. Singles – look for a partner who’ll bring stability into your constantly changing world.

TAURUS [April 21-May 21]

Career-wise, there’s no denying you’re conscientious and capable but are you confident enough for big time success? With the New Moon energizing your professional zone, don’t sell yourself short. The Sun and Neptune boost your creativity and confidence, while Mercury helps you multi-task like a pro. The challenge is to make work a pleasure rather than a chore.

GEMINI [May 22-June 21]

The New Moon activates your adventure zone so it’s the ideal time to travel and explore, as you dream impossible dreams, take calculated risks, and learn from the inevitable stuff-ups that happen along the way! If you can’t take a trip then go travelling in your mind via study, reading, music or movies. Friday will be stressful, as Saturn squares your ruler Mercury.

CANCER [June 22-July 23]

Monday’s New Moon signals a fresh start in the areas of sex or money, as you overhaul a joint financial agreement or embark on a passionate new romance. Hidden tensions could also rise to the surface as a close relationship is put under the microscope for inspection. Friday’s Moon/Mars opposition increases your impatience and irritability so try to keep your Cancer cool.

LEO [July 24-Aug 23]

Lions have a pathological need to hog the limelight. With the New Moon stimulating your relationship zone, it’s time to step back from the spotlight and let loved ones receive some attention [and applause] for a change. Single Cats – being open and emotionally available will draw a special person to you [who would normally stay away.] It’s time to feel the love Leo!

VIRGO [Aug 24-Sep 23]

The stars favor starting a new diet and exercise program as you swap cream buns for carrot juice, and long TV sessions for power walks and gym workouts. Don’t expect instant results though, as Mars moves backwards through your sign [from January 25- April 14]. You may lose some of your Virgo vim and vigor – but it’s a good time to plan projects and complete tasks.

LIBRA [Sep 24-Oct 23]

The New Moon encourages you to entertain more, extend your circle of friends to include a bohemian new crowd, or tap into the creative muse within. Attached Librans – your partner may surprise [or shock] you this weekend, so keep your adaptability muscles well-flexed. Singles – don’t look for love amongst the same old crowd. Cast your net far and wide.

SCORPIO [Oct 24-Nov 22]

Resist the temptation to make mountains out of molehills – you may be worrying about something that never eventuates. With Mercury moving into your domestic zone [from January 28 through to February 14] it’s time to speak up about family issues. You’ll be able to express yourself more eloquently than usual, and loved ones are waiting to hear what you have to say.

SAGITTARIUS [Nov 23-Dec 21]

Archers pride themselves on their independence and ability to go it alone. But this week’s New Moon urges you to find fresh ways to connect with those around you, whether at home, at work or in your local community. With four planets in your communication zone, you’re keen to chat as your sociable side shifts into overdrive. Avoid jumping to conclusions on Sunday.

CAPRICORN [Dec 22-Jan 20]

Show me the money! With the New Moon lighting up your cash zone, it’s time to take stock of your financial situation and initiate some smart new strategies. Conscientious Capricorns can get hung up on being impossibly perfect. This weekend, be inspired by Germaine Greer [born on January 29] “Freedom is the freedom to get things wrong as well as right.”

AQUARIUS [Jan 21-Feb 19]

Aquarians are twice as much fun [and twice as much trouble] as the New Moon activates your sign. You’re intelligent and innovative but also reckless and rebellious, as you re-model an important area of your life. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to put your unique talents to work – if you know where to look. Resist being extravagant with cash and careless with credit.

PISCES [Feb 20-March 20]

Fish are sentimental folk who can spend too much time in the past. Don’t brood over love gone wrong. This week’s stars help heal your hurt feelings so you can finally let go and move on. Plus the New Moon encourages you to listen to your inner voice. As birthday great Oprah Winfrey reminds us “Follow your instincts. That’s where true wisdom manifests itself.”

What the Heck is Leap Year?

Leap Year is the year we add an extra day to the calendar (February 29th) to make up for the fact that we actually have 365 ¼ days in a year. Adding an extra day helps us stay on track. Otherwise, we’d have that extra ¼ day messing us up. Our calendars would eventually get out of sync with our seasons and we’d have summer in December (and not because of global warming).

What does Leap Year have to do with Finding Love?

Leap Year reminds us that to get synced up and to stay synced up with someone, you have to take a little leap… a leap of faith if you will. You have to be willing to put yourself out there. You have to be willing to take a chance.

Is There Any Way Around the Leap of Faith?

The age old question – How can I find love without taking a chance? The truth is — you can’t. Putting yourself out there, being vulnerable is the only way to find love. But, you can do things to protect yourself so it’s a more calculated risk, with a much greater chance of success – more like hopping off a curb and less like jumping out of an airplane.

Looking Before You Leap

So, how do you protect yourself while putting yourself out there? The single most important thing you can do is to take it really slow. You want to get to know someone a little at a time. And you want to trust them a little at a time. And you only trust them more if they earn it. According to Terry Gorski (1993), how someone handles little commitments in a relationship is what paves the way for bigger commitments. So, when you’re getting to know someone, pay attention to how they treat you. Do they call when they say they’re going to call? Do they do what they say they’re going to do? If they keep their little commitments to you, that’s a good sign that it’s safe to trust them a little more.

For women, it’s especially important to take it slow in the physical area. Because when women get physical they bond. According to Luann Brizendine (The Female Brain, 2006), women actually start bonding with a 20 second hug! So, if she has sex, a woman can end up bonded before she even realizes it. That’s why sex is such a big risk for a woman. It requires building up a foundation and commitment first. Otherwise, it can throw things off balance. (To read more about sexual differences between men and women, visit my blog.)

             Leaping into Love Together

If you can take it slow, you also won’t get too far ahead of the other person. You do want to be vulnerable. But, you want him or her to be vulnerable too. The way you do this is by risking and sharing who you are and seeing how the other person responds. And then when they risk with you, it’s your turn to show them that you’re trustworthy. It’s never perfectly balanced. But, overall you both want to be risking and building trust together. That way your leap into love will be well worth the risk for both of you.

Brizendine, L. (2006). New York: Broadway
Gorski, T. (1993). New York: Fireside

Valentine’s Day is coming and with it, the potential for expensive gifts. A dozen red roses of the highest quality can cost you as much as $100. However, the current economic environment is causing most of us to consider budgeting the romantic holiday this year. Several Valentine’s Day deals that may be the perfect budget friendly gift for your sweetie this year include:
Classic Valentine’s Day Cards

Instead of buying a schmaltzy and expensive card from an official card store like Hallmark, you can purchase a box of Valentine’s Day cards manufactured for children. Take an hour or two and fill every card with a sentimental message.

Dinner Out

Most of us eat dinner in a nice restaurant for Valentine’s Day, which can be costly. However, with the explosion of new discount websites such as Groupon, Living Social and Daily Deals, you may be able to have dinner at half the price this year. Also, you can use these sites to try a new activity for the holiday such as wine tasting, dancing lessons or a spa day.

Chocolate

Chocolate is an indulgence that reminds us of romance and buying quality chocolate for your honey this Valentine’s Day can be affordable. You don’t have to buy him or her a large quantity. In fact, you could get busy in the kitchen and make your special someone a homemade dinner and then bring out the gift wrapped chocolate for dessert. One or two pieces each should be enough to create the romantic mood that chocolate has been known to encourage.

Create a Personalized Playlist

Technology has jumped ahead, but there are still ways to make a classic “mixed tape” for your Valentine. Today, you can customize a playlist for your loved one’s personal music device. Girls will be delighted to hear traditional romantic songs such as “Unchained Melody” from the Righteous Brothers and Etta James’ “At Last” while men will love it when the sexy music starts with songs like “Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye.

Old Photographs

If you’ve been with your honey for a while, then you most likely have pictures of the two of you. Take your camera’s memory stick to one of the do-it-yourself picture kiosks that are set up at most department stores and create a personalized present on a budget.

Creativity is the key to saving money during gift giving holidays and with a few Valentine’s Day deals, you’ll be able to ensure that your loved one is properly spoiled during this annual day of required romance.

This is the first in our series for Valentine’s Day. You’ll find articles on finding love for Valentine’s Day. Later in the week there’ll be articles on buying that perfect Valentine’s Gift, and even buying Valentine’s Gifts on a Budget. So watch out for the latest news for Valentine’s Day.

Sometimes 365 day in a year just doesn’t seem like enough time to finally get around to meeting that someone special. Subtract work and family commitments, the time spent compulsively watching episodes of Storage Wars (which has grown substantially with the premiere of Storage Wars: Texas and soon to air Storage Wars: New York), the weekends spent attending other people’s weddings, the hours spent stalking your ex on Facebook, and the amount of time you spend hanging out with other single friends complaining about being single (and, of course, exchanging opinions about the latest episode of Storage Wars, gotta love Barry), and you’re left with roughly 6 day, 14 hours, and 12 minutes (damn you A&E!) in the year.

Fortunately for the forlorn looking for love, 2012 offers one additional day from them to experience their own “meet cute,” to agree to go on one more blind date, convince themselves that a second cousin is far enough down the family tree that one date couldn’t hurt, and to spend a little extra time voyeuristically scanning through eerily similar OkCupid profiles. (Not sure what I’m doing on this site, looking for someone with a sense of humor, I like things that I hope make me seem interesting and only a little pretentious, rinse, repeat, reload, refresh.)

Historically, a leap year held the tradition of being one of the few times a woman could actually propose marriage to a man. A 1606 book titled Courtship, Love and Matrimonie stated that any man who would be so daring as to deny a woman his hand in marriage when asked during a leap year would forego the privilege of attending church. A hefty fine considering the average peasant’s life in the 17th century consisted of a daily routine of toil, sustenance, sleep, and church. To drive the point home with a rhyme, a quote attributed to Chaucer states, “In Leap Year they have power to chuse, the men no charter to refuse.”

While asking a man you just met to marry you might seem like a good idea if you’re a Kardashian, most mothers would tell their daughters to always be wary of marrying any man without first seeing what he keeps in his basement. By the same token, meeting a woman who carries her own engagement ring around waiting to pop the question to the first eligible, or at the very least breathing, bachelor they find can give even the most hopelessly romantic fella a moments pause.

Sadly, such traditions have long lost their sway in our prim and proper world where arranged marriages have been eschewed in exchange for actually getting to know and love a potential mate, and dowries are paid in how many miles away the in-laws live rather than livestock. Finding love in a leap year, just like in any other, requires a willingness to stay ever positive, to always say yes cause you just never know, and stop wondering why, if, and when. For those of us who have still yet to meet “the one,” 2012 offers one more day, 24 additional hours of hope and promise, and the potential that 366 could be our lucky number.

ARIES [March 21-April 20]

Find proactive ways to solve challenging problems this week Aries. Friday will be a fractious day, when self-doubt creeps in [especially regarding a personal or professional partnership]. And expect some volatile moods, as Mars stirs up your emotions. Jupiter and Uranus rev up your restlessness on Sunday, so do something physical to blow off all that extra energy.

TAURUS [April 21-May 21]

When it comes to work, keep plugging away. You’ll see rewards over the next month, if you put 100% care and commitment into all that you do [plus handle colleagues with extra tact and patience]. Don’t let jealousy rear its ugly head on Saturday. Have the confidence to give your partner plenty of personal space. Single Bulls – don’t confuse lust with love.

GEMINI [May 22-June 21]

A rocky relationship with a child, teenager or friend will be tested, as you discover what their real motives are. Compromise is needed [on both sides] if you want to get things moving in a positive direction. And don’t feel you have to do everything on your own. Help is at hand – all you have to do is ask. Sunday is the day to research a topic that has always intrigued you.

CANCER [June 22-July 23]

Crabs can get stuck in a comfortable rut that does nothing for your personal growth. Don’t become so obsessed with security that you’re afraid to explore exciting new options. Partnerships will be a minefield on the weekend, as Pluto intensifies passion – but also guilt, jealousy and obsessions. It will be incredibly easy to say the wrong thing [especially to women].

LEO [July 24-Aug 23]

Cats are set for a colossal week as Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter all shake up your sign. Saturn saps your confidence on Friday, when your creativity is curbed and others criticize your performance in some way. Jupiter and Uranus boost your spirits on Sunday, as you bounce into freedom bunny mode. So it’s the perfect time to plan your next heavenly holiday.

VIRGO [Aug 24-Sep 23]

A creative project may be stymied due to dwindling funds – or a lack of confidence on your part. With penny-pinching Saturn still in your finance zone, money’s too tight to mention at the moment so spend carefully and save wisely. On the weekend a relationship with a child, teenager or friend becomes complicated, as feelings get in the way of common sense.

LIBRA [Sep 24-Oct 23]

You have a perfectionist streak and hate doing things a second time but that’s what you’ll have to do on Friday, when Saturn [in your sign] squares the Sun [which also increases your tendency to procrastinate]. Librans can be fence sitters but you need to make a big decision soon, before someone else makes it for you. Venus and Pluto pump up the passion on Saturday.

SCORPIO [Oct 24-Nov 22]

Are family members featuring in your nightly dreams? Your unconscious mind is working on relationship problems while you sleep. It’s the perfect kind of therapy – and it’s free! On the weekend you’ll find it hard to get an idea out of your head. Take a chill pill and try to obsess less [and relax more]. For some Scorpios, a fledgling romance becomes very intense.

SAGITTARIUS [Nov 23-Dec 21]

There may be some frustration regarding a financial situation or friendship. Perhaps you are expecting more than is on offer? You’re also impatient to get things done but don’t rush Sagittarius – approach tasks carefully and thoughtfully. Take on board the wise words of birthday great, Benjamin Franklin “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

CAPRICORN [Dec 22-Jan 20]

Work is an intense place to be, as you focus on plans and projects for 2012. Your conscientious Capricorn streak goes into overdrive, as you expect 110% performance from yourself [and others]. There may also be some conflict between professional responsibilities and personal needs. The more stubborn you are, the more difficult the week will be.

AQUARIUS [Jan 21-Feb 19]

Aquarians crave personal autonomy. Independence is your number one priority this week, and you won’t take kindly to others telling you what to do! The Sun shimmies into your sign on Saturday, so it’s your turn to sparkle and shine over the coming month. Sunday’s Sun/Uranus aspect increases your desire to communicate your creative ideas in innovative ways.

PISCES [Feb 20-March 20]

With four planets passing through your hopes and wishes zone, focus on fabulous new dreams for the future. Be inspired by Dolly Parton [born on January 19] “I wake up with new dreams every day.” Singles – expect a few false-starts before true love comes calling. Attached Fish – avoid being confrontational with your partner. Softly, softly is the smart way to go.

Singles know how important it is to make a great first impression when going out on a first date. From a guy’s perspective, it takes a lot of courage to go up to a girl you’ve never met before and get to know her to the point you can ask her out. You don’t want to blow this opportunity to meet your future partner. If you are a guy that hasn’t been dating anyone lately, or just haven’t had much luck on dates, you might need a few pointers to turn your luck around.

There are a handful of guys that try and go overboard by planning several things to do on their first date. If you are this person, you are making a big mistake. This isn’t the time to try and impress her with all of the things you can do. Rather, you should impress her by letting her get to know by talking over coffee or lunch. Asking a girl out to dinner can be a big first step, but she is less likely to turn down a cup of coffee or lunch. Take note of these tips as you prepare for the big first date:

DO shower: Do you really think a girl wants to sit next to a guy that smells? Take a shower before going out on any date, especially the first one!

DO carry breath mints or gum: When you are talking with a girl, she doesn’t want to deal with your foul breath. Chew a piece of gum or eat a mint before heading to your date, and again after your meal. Don’t forget to offer her one after the meal too.

DO shave: Girls appreciate guys that take the time to clean up before a date. You don’t want to appear burly and dirty, so make sure to trim your facial hair or shave completely so you don’t look unkempt.

DO eat a snack: If you are going for lunch during the busy noon hour, it may take awhile to get your food. Eat a small snack so you aren’t hungry and appear impatient for your food.

DON’T be late: Being late is rude, especially for a first date. You only get one first impression and the least you can do is be punctual.

DON’T wear too much cologne: Many men spray way too much cologne on for a date. You shouldn’t be smelt a block away; a simple spray or two will be fine.

DON’T drink too much: You might think you can handle your alcohol, but the girl won’t be impressed by how much you can drink on a first date. Limit yourself to no more than 2 drinks; you’ll thank me later for this advice!

DON’T think about letting her pay: A guy pays for the girl on a first date, period!

Many men also struggle to dress properly for their first date. More often than not, the guy will dress extremely nicely for a simple lunch date or for coffee. If you are meeting during a break at work, this is acceptable; no one expects you to change out of your suit. However, if you are meeting over the weekend or a non-work day, don’t go overboard. When in doubt, simple casual works best. Below is an example of how you can dress well for your date while encompassing the latest trends of 2012:

Aviators |Jeans | Sweater | T-Shirt | Casual Shoes

Layering is popular this winter and spring, and is especially convenient as well. A simple long sleeved shirt with a sweater is perfect for any lunch or coffee occasion, and allows you to take off your sweater if the restaurant is too hot. If it’s cold, you can offer your sweater to your date. What really completes the look is a pair of aviators. They signal that you are fashionable and know how to accessorize! Just make sure to take them off when you are indoors.

Dating is supposed to be fun for singles, not stressful! We hope these tips help you have a successful first date!

Whether you're single or in a relationship, knowing just what to wear and how to dress for your next event can be challenging. Here are a few pointers to help you out

This is the season for parties! Not everyone can afford to buy a new dress for every cocktail party and event this season, so why not invest in one great little black dress and even better accessories. Pair your dress with a statement bibb necklace one night and a gorgeous gold cuff another night, for a completely different look without breaking the bank. When you change your accessories you are creating a whole new look and outfit every time. This holiday season go bold with your accessories, add some gold to your outfit. Try a gold studded clutch or, a gold cuff, or a sparkling pair of gold sequin pumps.

Gold isn’t your thing, how about combining the gold with some black. The gold black combination is a trend that everyone can wear and is a frequent trend on the red carpet. Black and gold strappy sandals or gold bangles with a black cocktail ring, look fabulous with any short cocktail dress.

Metallics aren’t your thing, how about a bold jewel tone, such as an emerald cocktail ring or a sapphire necklace. Pair your little black dress black dress with a statement necklace. Try a cascading beaded necklace to add a spark to your otherwise plain outfit. Strong accessories can make any outfit go from day to night. This season’s hottest trends in jewelry are spikes, gems, and metals. So try some this holiday season. Make a grand entrance at any party this year and remember that the right accessory can take an outfit from day to night, from dull to glam, and from ordinary to chic.

Sure the right necklace, bangle, clutch or pair of earrings can make or break an outfit, but the most important accessory of all is the shoe of course! This season there are so many shoes out there that will work just as well with jeans as they will with your glittery new cocktail dress
Shoes play an important part in picking out your ideal ensemble this winter.

From metallic loafers to sequin pumps, there is something out there for everyone. The staple in every girls closet the Mary Jane is a classic shoe that can go from day to night. They are classy, conservative and can be paired with a LBD for a reserved look or an animal print dress for an edgier look.
Wedges are showing up everywhere from wedge sandals to pumps, these cute and comfortable shoes are ideal for any type of event. If you show up to your party wearing a wedge, you are sure to be one of the last girls standing. They offer support that a stiletto cannot, so if you are party hopping or pulling an all nighters, go for a wedge to make sure you are not sitting all night.

Steer clear of the boring and basic black, nude or brown pump this season. Go for a bolder look with a cobalt blue or red pump that would perfect with beige, grey or a black dress. And you don’t have to stick with just a leather or patent pump. Try suede, get in touch with your wild side and wear python slingbacks or keep it sparkling with sequin pumps.

Regardless of the event, remember that shoes are a girl’s best friend, you can never have too many and they are the perfect accessory to complement any outfit this holiday season.

ARIES [March 21-April 20]

Watch out for Full Moon fiascos involving high-spirited housemates or crazy colleagues early in the week. Friday should be fabulous, as positive Sun/Mars aspects boost your desire to move ahead. But remember there’s a fine line between reckless behavior and spontaneous action. As Ernest Hemingway wrote “Never confuse movement with action.”

TAURUS [April 21-May 21]

Many Bulls will be in a boisterous and sociable mood early in the week, as you chat and communicate; mix and mingle. Jupiter is jumping through your sign [until June] which encourages you to be more adventurous, as you creep outside your comfort zone. Friday favors love, romance, proposals, long-term commitments, creative projects and spiritual pursuits.

GEMINI [May 22-June 21]

Is your spending out of control? A financial Full Moon fiasco is likely early in the week, unless you can plug the cash flow drain and start saving. Pace yourself Twins – and show some restraint. You don’t have to buy everything you like, as soon as you see it. Friday’s Mercury/Pluto hook up intensifies a romantic relationship, and brings hidden problems to the surface.

CANCER [June 22-July 23]

Cancers are usually cautious creatures. But Monday’s Full Moon [in your sign] encourages you to crawl out of your crab cave and do something adventurous and daring. If you are attached, make sure you take your partner along for the ride. You’re not in the mood for casual conversations on Friday, as you connect with others on a deeper emotional level.

LEO [July 24-Aug 23]

The Full Moon stirs up issues to do with physical, emotional or spiritual health. Positive Sun/Mars aspects provide a welcome energy boost on Friday, as your confidence soars and your creativity surges. It’s also the perfect time for physical activity and individual projects. Someone tells you something in confidence on Saturday – but can a loud-mouth Leo keep a secret?

VIRGO [Aug 24-Sep 23]

Reach for the stars and set goals for the future, as the Full Moon lights up your hopes and wishes zone early in the week. Mercury joins up with Pluto on Friday, when your compulsive streak is likely to go into overdrive. You’re in the mood to get things done on the weekend, as the Moon visits Virgo – but don’t drive everyone crazy with your fussy, fastidious ways!

LIBRA [Sep 24-Oct 23]

Nurture your professional contacts, and don’t let a lack of confidence stop you from promoting your talents. With nifty networking, you’ll take your career up to the next level in 2012. If you are looking for a job, lucky opportunities come through personal recommendations from family and friends. Singles – from Saturday onwards, love and work are linked.

SCORPIO [Oct 24-Nov 22]

Present your best professional face because colleagues are taking notice of a more empowered you. All types of research are favored on Friday, as Mercury and Pluto join forces in your study zone. You’ll also shun superficial encounters, preferring deep and meaningful conversations. But avoid the temptation to be sarcastic with others – aim to be open and generous.

SAGITTARIUS [Nov 23-Dec 21]

Prepare for a positive and passionate week as the Full Moon revs up your motivation and jump-starts your mojo. It also stimulates your spending gene, so don’t go overboard. With mighty Mars moving forwards in your career zone [until January 24] it’s time to assume a leadership role and initiate changes at work – with a magical mix of confidence and charm!

CAPRICORN [Dec 22-Jan 20]

It will be a gigantic juggle to balance personal needs and relationship responsibilities this week – and the Full Moon brings unresolved romantic issues to a head. Keep calm and don’t lose your Capricorn cool! Saturn trines Venus on Friday, so focus on what really makes you happy. Be inspired by birthday boy Orlando Bloom “The simple things in life are the best.”

AQUARIUS [Jan 21-Feb 19]

Don’t get so carried away with your goals and dreams for the future that you lose sight of the present. Give day-to-day tasks the time and attention they deserve [physically, mentally and emotionally]. On the weekend the focus is on finances, as Venus moves into your money zone. Resist the urge to be extravagant with cash and credit. Singles – love is waiting online.

PISCES [Feb 20-March 20]

The Full Moon shines a spotlight on flaws within a close friendship. Are you sick and tired of being single? With gung-ho Mars moving forwards in your relationship zone [until January 24] the only way you’ll find lasting love is by being proactive. It’s time for procrastinating Pisceans to make the first move! If you are attached, give your partner plenty of space.

Sydney is famous for many things but you might not know that it’s well-known for its cabaret clubs. From circus performers, to burlesque, to drag acts, there’s something for everyone and for every occasion. A lot of tourists miss out on this great cultural addition to the city, as they’re too busy soaking up the sun and sinking beers in the many pubs. However, if you have the time, you should try and check out a cabaret night to get a real flavor for after-hours Sydney.

Get dressed up

Cabaret in Sydney is a popular destination for birthdays, hen nights and other celebrations so they’re often fairly raucous affairs with plenty of noise, music and drinking. It is possible to find something a bit more low key – it really depends on the type of vibe you’re looking for. It’s worth checking out daily deals Sydney to see if there are any discounts at clubs. Obviously, you won’t get a choice of everything that’s on but if you don’t have a specific venue in mind, this can be a great way to check out a show for a fraction of the usual cost. A lot of people get dressed up for cabaret and treat it as a special evening out so pull on your glad rags and get into the spirit.

Eating and drinking

Some shows offer a dinner deal whereby you can get a table and enjoy dinner and drinks before the show. Other clubs offer snacks and table service, or there’s usually some standing spots as well, if you’re not planning to stay in one venue all night or you fancy having a bit of a boogie to a tribute band. If you’re looking for good food and entertainment then check out the menus before you book. Some clubs offer three or five-course dinners that are worthy of a night out in themselves while others concentrate on the entertainment – the food’s really just there to fill your tummy.

You’ll find decent cabaret clubs all over the country, although Sydney has the most diverse selection. Daily deals Australia should point you in the direction of cheap tickets, so go online wherever you happen to be staying and see what’s happening there. You should also ask around locally, or check with your Aussie friends about where’s the best place to go. Some clubs are purely for tourists, whilst others will showcase new acts, or offer something a bit more underground and edgy. A lot of major acts started their performing careers doing the circuits of the Sydney cabaret clubs so you could be in for a treat and see an act or a show that has the potential to make it on the worldwide circuit.

If you’ve done the pubs and the bars and you’ve eaten out all over town, then a night of comedy, circus performers or singing drag queens will be a welcome change. And it could end up being one of the highlights of your trip.

I am not ashamed to say that I like a drink. Perhaps more than most, admittedly. This has taken me to some of the UK’s best cities, as I search for the perfect drinking hole and the perfect pint of beer. I was directed by a friend (equally-qualified as myself in the art of drinking) to Dublin, home to over 970 public houses. Dublin not only has a reputation for having the most pubs of any city in the world, but also the best. Is this reputation
deserved? I was soon to find out.

infomatique

Exploring Dublin’s Pub Scene

I was told before left for the Irish capital that there is a pub to suit everyone in Dublin, and they were not wrong. Dublin’s pubs are filled with a lively atmosphere day or night, so whether you want to mix with the friendly locals by day, sharing stories and sampling an array of Irish ales, or enjoy a pub crawl filled with music and dancing by night, Dublin has a pub to suit you. I personally enjoy to frequent pubic houses both day and night (only at the weekend!), but I did manage to select a few preferential drinking venues. I did enjoy Temple Bar, smack bang in the middle of the Temple Bar district, which I appreciated more than any other in the city. One of the most famous pubs in Dublin, it is swarming with young, fashionable people. This gives the pub a great, lively atmosphere, and there is always someone to chat to and exchange stories with. The beer wasn’t bad either!

Another Temple Bar favourite is Eamonn Dorans. In comparison to the Temple Bar pub, this place is instead frequented by locals rather than tourists and is certainly more authentic than its tourist-friendly neighbour. For me, interesting chat is a must when exploring a city’s pub scene and this drinking establishment certainly scores high on that front – I met some very interesting characters in Eamonn Dorans – one or two that I will aim to remain in touch with!

Dublin Accommodation

You cannot fully appreciate the wonder of Dublin’s pub scene within staying over in the city and so it is wise to book an overnight stay in one of the varied Dublin hotels, guesthouses or bed and breakfasts. The success of your visit will in part come down to your Dublin accommodation, and to it’s important to choose carefully when selecting somewhere to stay in the city. For location, a city centre hotel such as the Trinity Capital Hotel is ideal. I stayed here based on a recommendation and found that it is located very close to the pub strewn Temple Bar (hence the majority of my time was spent here!) and the famous Grafton Street. For more luxurious quarters, try the Merchant House on Eustace Street (also in Temple Bar), Overall, there are an abundance of places to stay in Dublin, so you’re certain to find somewhere to suit all tastes and of course, a pub to suit all desires!

Mauritius, a tropical island nation, is located on the east of Africa and has been considered as many as one of the most beautiful places in the world. Indeed whether you are looking for some genuine relaxation or a way to unwind after some stressful moment, you will not be deceived by the hospitality of the Mauritians. Below you will find 4 spots that you must visit on the island to help you plan your visit in the best possible condition.

Caudan Waterfront

The Caudan Waterfront is a shopping center that is located in the capital of the island, Port-Louis. Once there you will find a variety of shops selling some branded goods at interesting prices when compared to prices in USA or Europe. The good thing about these shops is that you will not be getting counterfeited products compared to street hawkers. You will also find food outlets, restaurants and also cinemas if you want to enjoy a whole day there.

Caudan waterfront is also the only place where you can enjoy some nightlife in Port Louis and you will definitely want to visit this place if you are visiting Port Louis by night.

Trou aux Cerfs

Trou aux Cerfs is the crater of a dormant volcano that is located in the town of Curepipe. Once there you will be able to admire some luxuriant vegetation and enjoy a breathtaking view on the central part of the island. Do not forget to bring your camera with you if you want to take some really interesting photos. This is definitely a place that you will not want to miss especially if you are a nature lover.

Bassin Blanc

This is yet another interesting dormant volcano that you will not want to miss when visiting the island. This one is located on the South of the island and provides again some breathtaking scenery that should be ideal for pictures. You will also be able to discover some birds in their natural habitat. Just make sure that you remain as discrete as possible if you do not want to frighten the birds.

Central Market

The Central Market located in Port Louis is the main market of the island and is definitely an attraction that you will want to visit while on the island. You will be able to discover wares coming from various parts of the islands and also from other dependencies of Mauritius such as Rodrigues and Agalega. There is also a craft market where you can find some really good souvenir items in the new wing of the market.

It is important however that you negotiate with the sellers if you want to get the best price as these people tend to raise their prices when it comes to foreigners.

Kevin Pritchard is a contributor to Click Discounts where you can get some interesting click discounts voucher to help you make some savings.

ARIES [March 21-April 20]

Be extra careful when dealing with money matters on Thursday, and avoid making hasty financial decisions. With reckless Uranus in your sign all year, take the time to think things through [otherwise you could find yourself jumping from the frying pan into the fire]. The number one lesson to learn in 2012 is patience. Good things come to restless Rams who wait.

TAURUS [April 21-May 21]

Delusion or deception are a danger on Thursday, especially at work. Are you viewing a professional situation through increasingly rose-colored glasses? Time for a reality check Taurus. Romance is in the air on Saturday, as you spend quality time with someone special. This week, aim to be sensible and sensual [rather than self-indulgent and super stubborn].

GEMINI [May 22-June 21]

If you are bored to bits, try extending your peer group to include a bohemian new crowd. Fresh friendships will help you see things from an alternative perspective. You’re an expert at multi-tasking, but make sure you complete current projects before you launch into the next batch. Friday and Saturday suit socializing, as the Moon moves through your sign.

CANCER [June 22-July 23]

Have you made resolutions and set goals for the coming year? Don’t be too safe and sensible! With optimistic Jupiter in your hopes and wishes zone [plus unconventional Uranus in your life direction zone] you need to reach for the stars and think outside the square. Be inspired by birthday great Carl Sandburg “Nothing happens unless first a dream.”

LEO [July 24-Aug 23]

With Neptune and Venus visiting your partnership zone it will be tricky to fathom what’s really going on, as those around you have their own hidden agendas and mysterious motives. So tread gingerly with loved ones and work colleagues. If you push them into a corner, the sparks will fly. Single Lions – have you been looking for love in all the wrong places?

VIRGO [Aug 24-Sep 23]

Mighty Mars is in Virgo so it’s time to tackle challenges with confidence and courage. And best to do so over the next three weeks [before Mars reverses through your sign from January 24-April 14]. You’re in a hurry but don’t contemplate cutting corners. Shortcuts won’t work, and you’ll just end up having to do everything twice. Watch what you say on Sunday.

LIBRA [Sep 24-Oct 23]

Saturn is still moving through your sign [until October] so you need to be organized with your goals and dreams for the future, and write them down. With Venus and Neptune activating your creativity zone, it’s also time to nurture the creative muse within. Be inspired by Diane Keaton [born on January 5] “I want to keep expressing myself until I’m not alive.”

SCORPIO [Oct 24-Nov 22]

Scorpios can be selfish but, with the Moon and Jupiter in your relationship zone, it’s time to open up to the love and abundance around you. The power of the group is on your side [until January 23] so make sure you capitalize on your personal contacts and professional connections. You’re in the mood for adventure on Sunday, as the Moon stimulates your restless side.

SAGITTARIUS [Nov 23-Dec 21]

With the Moon and Jupiter activating your wellbeing zone, do something special to nurture your body this week. Nourishing food and vigorous exercise [preferably outdoors] will see you energized, enthused, and ready to hit the New Year running. Make sure you keep your options open in 2012. It’s time to build relationship bridges – rather than burn them!

The focus is on enjoying the holiday season, as you share fun activities with family and friends. When it comes to money matters, don’t bury your head in the sand. Be proactive and obtain first-class professional advice. But friends and finances are a messy mix at the moment, so aim to keep the two separate. Mercury moves into your sign on Sunday [until January 28].

Pay attention to your dreams Aquarius. They are sending you precious information about how you can heal rickety relationships, patch up problems and kick-start creative projects. Your unconscious mind is a powerful tool just waiting to be tapped into. On Sunday you’ll long for some quality time in your own private fantasy world. Strictly invitation only!

This week favors nurturing [and expanding] contacts within your local community. There’s a problem you’re worried about but does it really exist or is it just a figment of your overactive imagination? Avoid getting lost in an ocean of emotion – you may be worrying unnecessarily. Rather than obsessing in private, talk things over with a trusted friend on Sunday.

Shopping around for prospective dates can be taxing on the spirit, making some of us yearn for the days of arranged marriages where dating not only wasn’t as rough – it didn’t even exist.

But as you’re making your weekend crawl through the bars, testing person after person on your own personal dating criteria, it’s important to take mental notes on the things that assuredly work for you in the dating world as well as the things that don’t. Dating, in the end, is a rolling checklist of educated guesses: the more you date, the more you begin to understand what you want out of a long-term relationship.

Still, that doesn’t mean there are not consistent qualities to be found in every satisfying, well-rounded date. Whether you are considering dating that person you just can’t help but run into while in public or that friend you’re always just a little flirtier with than you should be, there exists a short list of redeeming characteristics that can reliably tell you whether a life with your potential date really is “meant to be.”

Enumerated below are five key questions to ask yourself before embarking into dating territory with your prospect:

Can he/she carry a conversation? If the conversation doesn’t move beyond the weather or the happenings of your respective days, re-evaluate whether the person is really worth dating. It is entirely possible that one of you is nervous in the flow of conversation, but if an awkward conversational lull happens on one occasion, it will undoubtedly happen again. Besides good sex, good conversation is the foundation of a progressive relationship: build upon it.

How are they dressed? Call it fickle, but judging people by what they wear is what we do – people create entire careers out of it. As much as you want to find a match in personality, you want to find someone stunning who you won’t mind wearing on your arm for an evening out, either. No one wants to be a part of the disproportional couple.

What does the person draw out in you? This question is probably more easily answered by someone who is looking to date a long-time friend suddenly being seen in a new light, but consider what side the prospective person pulls forth from the depths of your personality. You want to date someone who brings out the sides of you that you love. Don’t date an instigator, and certainly don’t date someone who makes you uncomfortable with who you are.

How is the chemistry? Sometimes, determining whether someone is worth dating or not is as simple as whether you feel those butterflies swarming in your stomach. If the answer is “yes,” rejoice in being problem-free. Even if the two of you don’t work out after going on a date, you’ll surely have some sexual magic to take advantage of or at the very least flirtation to keep the night interesting.

How do your lifestyles compare? In the beginning stages of dating, lifestyle differences are going to be the most emphasized, whether they are laid-out on the table directly or not. First consider differences that might be life-changing (kids, divorced, finances, etc.), and move down the list from there. If you don’t see any red flags, feel free to move forward with the date.

Ultimately, determining if someone is worth your time is a decision you will have to make, but certainly take into consideration the few on-the-surface details that might save you time, frustration, and even a few bucks along the way. Testing the waters can be fun with just the right amount of dating due diligence.
