Whether you’re going out for a night on the town with someone you just met or having a night in over take-out and a movie with your husband after an early bedtime for the kids, you always want to look your best for a romantic evening. Here are five steps for looking your best on date night.
1. Take a hot shower and brush your teeth
After a long day at work or at home with the kids, you’ll feel and look a lot more fresh if you take a shower before your date. Select some nicely scented soaps and don’t forget to shave. Good quality razors make all the difference! Once you’re out of the shower, it’s probably a good idea to brush your teeth even if midday brushing isn’t your habit. No one wants to have bad breath on date night!
2. Select a practical, flattering outfit
When deciding what to wear, consider the activities you have planned for your date night. Dinner at a fancy restaurant? The little black dress and heals might be just right. If you’re doing something more active, it might be better to wear something cute, but more comfortable. It’s always good to wear something not just because it’s trendy, but because you love it and it looks good on you.
4. Accessorize tastefully
Once you’ve selected the perfect outfit for your date, choose some accessories. If you’re wearing something simple, go for a big, bright statement piece for your necklace. If your clothes are more flashy, it might be better to choose simple accessories. If you have a special piece of jewelry from your significant other, date night might be the perfect time to wear it. Whatever accessories you choose, make sure they coordinate nicely with your outfit and with each other.
5. Be yourself
Whether your date is someone you’re just getting to know or you’ve been married to him for 30 years, make sure to be yourself on date night. No one can look their best while acting like someone they’re not. Plus, you want your date to love you for who you are, not for someone you’re pretending to be!
Having a date night with someone you care about is usually great regardless of how gussied up you decide to get. Even so, it always feels good when you know you look your best–and it’s usually fun to get prettied up, too!
