A New Year can bring you many surprises – here’s hoping they are all that you’ve been wishing for…
New year, new hopes, new dreams, new love? Whatever your relationship status is, the year 2013 also means embracing a new and better you, including a new attitude on love.
Breaking Up is Hard to Do…But..
Heartbroken? If new year started on a sour note with your relationship ending, chin up. Don’t let depression win over you. Taylor Swift may have broken up with Harry Styles shortly after their much publicized New Year’s kiss, but that doesn’t mean that she’s locking herself at home and wallowing in tears. Instead, she does what she knows best and headed to the studio. She also proved that revenge is sweet through her gorgeous–far from heartbroken–appearances at the People’s Choice Awards and the recent Golden Globes.
Breaking up is hard to do…but it’s not the end of the world (although you may feel like it is). So it’s understandable if you give in to tears first. Go ahead and get your hair cut. Before you do, wait until you are no longer very emotional as you might end up with a drastic hairstyle that you regret. Choose a hairstyle that highlights your features. Sometimes, the best revenge is looking even more gorgeous after a breakup.
Don’t jump into the next relationship that comes along. Relationships on the rebound are never a good idea since you are still vulnerable from your break up. Instead, set aside some “me” time to mend your broken heart and to learn to be happy by yourself. Enjoy being single while it lasts and use that time to better yourself, so that when you finally meet the “one”, you’re ready to make him fall for your fabulous self.
Single and Still Searching
Many women yearn for that knight in shining armor to come and sweep them off their feet. Blame it on all those romantic movies and harlequin books. Waiting is in vain. You have to face reality that the population of men outnumber the women. All’s fair in love and war and in the game of love, we are facing tough competition from the younger women (lolitas) and the older women (cougars). We also face some competition from the men. With so many rivals, it’’s no wonder why so many women are still single and searching.
Love is a battlefield and whether you like it or not, you’ve got to put on your best fighting
form. Go out and join activities that you like that will help you expand your circle. Be open to meeting new friends and going on blind dates. If you’ve exhausted every possibility of networking and still came up empty, be prepared to explore other possibilities of finding love.
In a Relationship, Practically Married, or With Kids
It takes two to tango and for any relationship to last, both parties have to work hard at it. If you’re contemplating about taking your commitment to another level, go on a trip with your special someone. Travel can actually make or break your relationship, but if you survive this test, then your bond is bound to go from strength to strength. Travel brings out the best and worst in people. Finding out about your partner’s flaws and how you deal with them will make you consider if you want to spend the rest of your life with him or her.
If you’re married or have kids, life can get pretty hectic and you might end up neglecting your spouse. Take some time out to breathe and spend quality time with your significant other. Just because you’re married or have kids doesn’t mean you can’t spice up your relationship. Have your parents watch the children one weekend while you rekindle the romance with your partner at a pleasure resort. Family time is important, but so is keeping the fires of you relationship burning. A date night once a week is also a great way to keep the romance alive.
Whatever you relationship status
is, your attitude on love could be the key that will help you happiness. So always keep your heart open to the possibilities of love.
