Alternative Singles holidays to Majorca
When you hear the words singles holiday to Majorca you can be forgiven for thinking of crowds of drunken revellers staggering home from the bar to their hotels in Magaluf in what can be an off-putting scenario for many holiday makers. However, there is more to Majorca than such cultural non-entities that occur in some of its busier resorts.
If you look further afield than resorts like Magaluf, which is purely set up around British tourists and their drinking culture, you can find some really fantastic things to do that will provide you with a brilliant way to meet people.
Thanks to the rugged northern landscape of Majorca there are many activity and adventure based holidays that take place in the Tramuntana Mountains that run the length of the island. Everything from singles hiking holidays, to day trips mountain biking. For those among you that need your activities to be a little more white knuckle then you can also enjoy parasailing, white water rafting or low level helicopter flights. All of which provide you with a great opportunity to meet new people, and more importantly, chat to them without having to shout over the din of a night club – or wonder if they will be able to remember you once their excesses wear off.

If you should find someone that you want a little more one on one time with while your away then I can highly recommend hot air ballooning as it gives you a chance to take in the breath-taking scenery from above and also provides a romantic back drop while you get to know each other away from everyone else.
For any of you reading this and thinking all of this sounds a like a little too much hard work while you are on holiday the island is littered with healthy and beauty centres for you to be pampered in, giving you the chance to be sociable whilst you indulge yourself. Picking just one of the many excellent spas to recommend is no easy feat and while you will be able to find one close to you regardless of where you stay it is hard not to recommend the urban spa at the Hotel Santa Clara in the islands capital, Palma. A bonus to visiting a spa in the capital is that you can come here after a morning of shopping in some of the designer outlets and fantastic independent boutiques – again a great way to get out and about and meet somebody. Perhaps you can get better acquainted with an afternoon of pampering!

So if beaches, mountains and spas aren’t your seen, you are in luck, Majorca has dozens of golf courses that are diligently maintained and offer not only a fantastic round of golf, but you can book on to a round with a few people you don’t know and perhaps find love in a fellow golfer. While this could be a riskier option as if you don’t enjoy the company of those you are paired with you are stuck with them for the afternoon as you play your 18 holes. Another potential downside to this is the cost of green fees in Majorca. Always remember that the island’s main source of income is tourism and as such everything is geared to tourists and can, on occasion, be expensive. It isn’t unusual to have to pay upwards of €100 for 18 holes at most courses on the island.
Failing all of these alternatives you can find quieter resorts if you, like me, find the idea of a resort that turns into one giant nightclub when darkness falls a little off putting. There are many places you could try as an alternative, such as Deya, in the north, or perhaps a holiday in Puerto Pollensa could be just what you need, one of the most laid back and possibly the most picturesque resort on the island. There are also plenty of tourist attractions to keep you busy while you journey around the island. Including the dramatic and fascinating Caves de Drach – a mind blowing network of underground rivers that have regular orchestral performances and light shows with the option to dine in your own private boat during the show, it can’t get more romantic than that.
So there you go, if you are looking for somewhere to travel to find that special someone, you can do a lot worse than heading to Majorca, the pure scale and range of things to do and see makes this island in the Mediterranean too good to pass up.
