New York Fashion Week
Fashion lovers everywhere were glued to New York Fashion Week, watching models grace the runways in all the trendiest garb. From Beckham to Wang, designers put their best out on the front line for the world to see. For those who missed out or just want a recap, here are some of the trends that emerged.
FLOWER POWER
Floral prints were everywhere, seen in collections from Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Jason Wu, and many more. As an art advocate, one of my personal favorites was a dress inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. Some floral print handbags even snuck their way onto models to help create inspiring looks.

ROARING TWENTIES
Many designers paid homage to the `20s, and the result was flapper-esque dresses, head scarves, feathers, beads, and sequins galore. The inspired looks reflected the Jazz Age well. This beaded evening bag would have been a great complement to the elegant looks displayed.

SPORTY
Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs, and Altuzarra were some, among many, to feature the sportswear look. Oversized clutches and oversized day bags made their way into the sporty couture, alongside sweatshirts and zip-up jackets. This gives all the more reason to hit up the gym — the look is in (although I don’t recommend Alexander Wang for an intense workout).

COLOR BLOCKING
Color blocking is a trend that has been making appearances for a while, but it was worn again at New York Fashion Week. I loved Victoria Beckham’s pairing of bright orange and navy blue, as well as the updated take on classic and timeless black and white, by Caroline Herrera. The red belt, shoes, and purse added the perfect splash of red. Color block handbags are a great start to getting in on this trend.

Those are just some of many trends that were showcased over the week. Others included pastels, bird prints, elegant to-the-floor ball gowns, and futuristic looks (think Matrix).
