Your Valentine Doesn’t Need To Know Your Budget
Valentine’s Day is coming and with it, the potential for expensive gifts.
A dozen red roses of the highest quality can cost you as much as $100. However, the current economic environment is causing most of us to consider budgeting the romantic holiday this year. Several Valentine’s Day deals that may be the perfect budget friendly gift for your sweetie this year include:
Classic Valentine’s Day Cards
Instead of buying a schmaltzy and expensive card from an official card store like Hallmark, you can purchase a box of Valentine’s Day cards manufactured for children. Take an hour or two and fill every card with a sentimental message.
Dinner Out
Most of us eat dinner in a nice restaurant for Valentine’s Day, which can be costly. However, with the explosion of new discount websites such as Groupon, Living Social and Daily Deals, you may be able to have dinner at half the price this year. Also, you can use these sites to try a new activity for the holiday such as wine tasting, dancing lessons or a spa day.
Chocolate
Chocolate is an indulgence that reminds us of romance and buying quality chocolate for your honey this Valentine’s Day can be affordable. You don’t have to buy him or her a large quantity. In fact, you could get busy in the kitchen and make your special someone a homemade dinner and then bring out the gift wrapped chocolate for dessert. One or two pieces each should be enough to create the romantic mood that chocolate has been known to encourage.
Create a Personalized Playlist
Technology has jumped ahead, but there are still ways to make a classic “mixed tape” for your Valentine. Today, you can customize a playlist for your loved one’s personal music device. Girls will be delighted to hear traditional romantic songs such as “Unchained Melody” from the Righteous Brothers and Etta James’ “At Last” while men will love it when the sexy music starts with songs like “Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye.
Old Photographs
If you’ve been with your honey for a while, then you most likely have pictures of the two of you. Take your camera’s memory stick to one of the do-it-yourself picture kiosks that are set up at most department stores and create a personalized present on a budget.
Creativity is the key to saving money during gift giving holidays and with a few Valentine’s Day deals, you’ll be able to ensure that your loved one is properly spoiled during this annual day of required romance.
