Queen’s Granddaughter Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall Tie the Knot in Scotland
Glorious sunshine was the order of the day for the next Royal Wedding to take place – this time for Zara Phillips to wed Mike Tindall. The names are familiar because he’s a former Captain of the English rugby team and of course Zara is daughter of the Princess Royal, Princess Anne. Zara and Mike have been together more than 7 years and they’re finally tying the knot. This is a relatively small wedding by Royal standards – a mere 400 and it will be held at Canongate Kirk in Scotland. But they pack in the Royals and celebrities just the same.

Zara Phillips arriving with her father Mark Phillips for her wedding to Mike Tindall
The wedding dress chosen by Zara Phillips was designed by one of the Queen’s favorite couturiers Stewart Parvin.
Zara, the Queen’s granddaughter is known for her low cut tops and daring outfits, but dressed to impress in this wedding gown, and it certainly does her justice. The dress is an ivory silk faille and silk duchess satin gown. Faille is a soft light ribbed fabric of silk, rayon, or taffeta. A chevron pleated bodice revealing dramatic inverted pleats on a dropped waist was designed to create a bell-shaped silhouette. Silk tulle straps form a V at the back and the bust is in silk duchess satin, with simple bias-cut raw edged ribbons of top-stitched silk faille and duchess satin decorating the neckline and empire seam.

Zara looks beautiful – and even squinting in the sun, they both look so happy. Gotta say about Kate’s fascinator though … was that thing lit up and beeping before it handed on her head? Even Beatrice’s fascinator looks better … and that’s saying something.
Best wishes Zara and Mike the new Royal marrieds. Amazing the way our Royals are distinctly less royal these days, but then I suppose you must do that to enrich the bloodline every few generations. They can’t ALL look like horses LOL!
What a marvellous day it was. I was there, wouldn’t dream of being anywhere else. Edinburgh knows how to put on the state occasions, and I chatted to so many people from over the world who were so excited to be in Edinburgh. I’ll be back throughout the coming month for all the fantastic festival stuff. I was so proud to be Scottish.
